Wasp Sting Home Remedies

You can try some home remedies to get instant relief from the sharp pain of a wasp sting. Read on and get familiar with some tried and tested home remedies for a wasp sting.
There are plenty of wasp sting remedies that you will come across. The home remedy consists of ingredients that are found in your kitchen cabinet and medicine box. When one does not experience an allergic reaction to the wasp sting, you can try any of the following wasp sting remedies.
But, before trying any of the following remedies, you need to remove the stinger. The stinger can be removed by scrapping it off using a butter knife or blunt object. Do not squeeze it out as it will lead to the release of more venom into the skin.

Ice

Once the stinger is removed, you need to place 2 to 3 ice cubes in a piece of cloth. Then, press this ice pack over the stung area for about 10 to 15 minutes. Do not apply ice directly to the skin. This will help in reducing the swelling that may occur due to the sting.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Soak some cotton in vinegar and apply it on the affected area. This will help in subsiding the pain as the acid in the vinegar helps in neutralizing the venom.

Coin

You can use a penny to reduce the venom effect by taping it on the skin for 15 minutes. This is because the copper in the penny has the ability to neutralize the venom effect.

Meat Tenderizer

You can apply a paste of meat tenderizer and water over the stung area. Make sure the meat tenderizer is unseasoned or you are in for a rough time!

Toothpaste

You can apply your toothpaste over the affected area. It is an effective home remedy.

Lemon

You can apply a fresh slice of lemon on the stung area and wait till the pain decreases. The acid helps neutralize the venom in the sting.

Garlic

You can use a fresh clove of garlic and apply it to the sting area. Tape it up for sometime to get faster relief.

Onion

You can also place a slice of onion on the affected area till the pain subsides.

Garlic and Salt

You can take 1 garlic clove and ½ teaspoon salt. Crush the garlic and mix the salt in it. Apply it directly on the stung area and wrap a bandage.

Treatment for Wasp Sting

There are plenty of wasp sting treatments that you can try. Pop in an aspirin to reduce the pain. Application of topical and oral antihistamines can help in the reduction of swelling and itching. Calamine lotion also helps in reliving the itching and pain.
In case you experience, vomiting, excessive swelling, burning, breathing problems, blurry speech, dizziness, hives, skin rash, and nausea, you need to seek immediate medical attention. If you develop an anaphylactic shock, you will need to be treated on an emergency basis.
