Upset stomach is a generalized term used for any disorder that affects the capacity of the body to digest food. Some stomach ailments are temporary while some may be diagnosed to be chronic disorders. Many of these causes for upset stomach, however, can be cured easily with some homemade remedies.

Change in diet and lifestyle is a common remedy. Foods rich in dietary fiber must be included in food to relieve the symptoms of constipation. Fibers in daily diet make the stool soft and bulky. There are many vegetables and fruits high in fiber. These foods include brussels sprouts, fruits, cabbage, and carrot.
Along with these foods, you must try and limit the foods that have no fibers in them viz., ice-cream, cheese and processed foods. Drinking water, fruits and vegetable juices are also beneficial in treating upset stomach during constipation. This upset stomach remedy was for mild constipation.
Laxatives are used for treating chronic constipation. Upset stomach in children is treated with a short term dosage of laxatives, suggested by doctors. For adults, there are laxatives in different forms like tablets, powder, gum powder and in granular form.
There are certain remedies like bulk-forming laxatives, stool softeners, lubricants, stimulants and osmotics. However, these laxatives must be consumed only under medical supervision.
Gas is a stomach upset problem faced by many people in this world. There are many causes of gas in stomach. You can suffer from gas, merely due to the reason that you swallow air while having food. Nausea and heartburn are two other causes for an upset stomach, experienced by a person suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or simply due to consuming oily and fried foods. Heart burn is commonly experienced during pregnancy. Here are some remedies for nausea and heartburn. Consult a doctor before you take any of the specified upset stomach remedies.
