Selenite Crystal Meaning

The name selenite is derived from the Greek term 'selenites lithos' where selenite means " moon" and lithos means "stone." This translates as moonstone.

Selenite is a gypsum crystal that occurs mostly as white and translucent crystals. The internal structure of this crystal is monoclinic and has fibrous striations formation along its length.
Selenite was popular among the Ancient Greeks who made window frames using this crystal. When the moonlight falls on this crystal, it illuminates the entire place in pearly white glow.
