Salt water flush is a simple and less invasive procedure to clean the digestive tract and expel body toxins. Apart from body detoxification, the benefits include treatment of digestive problems, skin disorders, common cold, fever, and other degenerative ailments.
Salt water flush is a method advocated for cleansing the digestive system. It helps in the removal of body toxins, especially from the colon. Salt, as we all know, is used as a natural preservative to get rid of any poisonous substances. Likewise, the therapeutic concept behind using salt for body cleansing is that, it removes accumulated toxins and wastes from the body organs and the intestinal walls.
As per medical researches, the specific density of salt water is nearly similar to blood. Hence, neither do the kidneys absorb water from the solution, nor does the blood extracts salt from it. This way, salt and water is circulated throughout the body without getting interrupted or separated from each other. It is opined that this body detoxification procedure is effective for treatment of certain health conditions, such as digestive problems, common cold, fever, high blood pressure, and degenerative ailments. Nevertheless, there is no sufficient clinical data that proves such claims. Another benefit is that it is inexpensive and can be performed at home without visiting a doctor.

Performing a Salt Water Flush

A salt water flush is preferably done early in the morning on an empty stomach. In order to make yourself comfortable with the after effects, you can consider performing this procedure on a holiday when you do not have to go for work.
Prior to performing the flush, a candidate should get prepared by skipping a meal. For better results, one can drink herbal tea that has mild laxative effects, the previous night.
Speaking about salt water, prepare the solution by adding two teaspoons of sea salt (do not use table salt) in about one liter of lukewarm filter water. For improving the taste, you can add lemon juice in the salt water. Allow the salt to dissolve completely and drink the solution. If possible, try to drink it very quickly without taking breaks in between.
Within one hour after drinking the salt water, you are likely to have watery bowel movements. You can do stretching exercises or lie down on your right side to induce defecation. The expected frequency of bowel movements depends upon the quantity of solution intake.
As the result of a salt water flush is elimination to improve digestive health, you can perform the procedure alone or in combination with other cleansing procedures. In some cases, it is incorporated as a part of master cleanse diet plan.
It is to be borne in mind that people who have chronic ulcer, intestinal tuberculosis, or severe forms of appendicitis, should not opt for this procedure. In case of any underlying health conditions, it is recommended to consult and seek advice from a qualified doctor before conducting a salt water flush.
