Sage oil is a pale yellow colored oil with a mild spicy aroma, which is similar to that of camphor. Its fresh fragrance acts as a stimulant to our senses. Sage oil fights different forms of infections caused by fungus, bacteria, and virus. It improves digestion. It is used for treating various fungal infections that affect our skin and nails, by not only curing these infections, but also preventing the spread and growth of fungus to any other part of the body.
This essential oil works wonders on our digestive system, by stimulating the secretion of digestive juices. It cures indigestion by preventing growth of harmful microbes in the digestive tract. Sage oil also acts as laxative to provide relief from constipation.
In women, this oil activates various hormones like estrogen, and thus, helps get rid of various problems associated with premenstrual syndrome and menopause. Those who are suffering from obstructed menses can regulate their menstrual cycles, by using this oil.
In short, this essential oil has a stimulating effect on the brain, nervous system, circulation system, and excretory system and thus improves the overall health condition.

Uses

Sage oil has a soothing effect on various skin problems like dermatitis, psoriasis, etc. Those who suffer from excessive sweating can use sage oil to reduce the problem. For all these treatments, use 10-15 drops in a warm bath daily. You can see the results in no time. This oil is used in the manufacture of soaps and perfumes because of its refreshing fragrance.
This oil is used to promote hair growth, as well as for cleaning the scalp off all the bacteria. If you are planning to use sage oil to grow your hair, then you need to pour about 10 drops of this oil in a cup of apple cider vinegar and massage the mixture into your scalp.
Let the solution stay on the scalp for half an hour and then shampoo your hair. It should be done once or twice a week.
When used in aromatherapy treatment, sage essential oil has a calming effect on the stressed out nerves. It also helps to reduce depression. Before using this product, it has to be mixed with another carrier oil like almond or vegetable oil.
This oil can be used as a mouthwash to kill the bacteria that lives inside the mouth. Add 2-3 drops of it to half a cup of water and gargle. This rinse will sooth swollen and bleeding gums, oral thrush, and sore throat.
This oil is also used in various types of dishes to add flavor. It is popularly used in many Italian dishes, poultry, and veal preparations. Sometimes, it is used for concealing strong odors of certain types of fish.
Despite having so many useful qualities, sage oil is not suitable for every individual. Women should not use it during pregnancy as it may have an aborting effect. It should not be used on babies and small children either. Consult your doctor first before you start oral intake of sage oil tablets.
