The aborigine tribes, of eastern Australia, have been using tea tree extracts for over a thousand years.
The name tea tree, has been derived from its local name among the tribe, 'Ti Tree'. Remarkable properties of this oil, such as its anti-bacterial and antifungal nature, provides remedies for a wide range of complaints. Let's understand what are the melaleuca oil benefits that you can use.

As a Disinfectant

Firstly, tea tree oil is only meant for topical application. As tea tree oil has anti-bacterial and antifungal properties, it acts as a general disinfectant. Thus, adding 2 drops of this oil to your bath water, will help you get rid of any fungal or bacterial infection of skin.
You can also make an all-purpose cleaner with this oil. Just add 2 drops of this oil to 2 cups of water and pour the mixture in a spray bottle. You can use this solution to clean your bathroom, kitchen areas, and other areas of the house.

As an Acne Treatment

Since melaleuca oil has anti-bacterial properties, works as an acne treatment too. To use it for acne, just make a mixture of 2 drops of tea tree oil with 1 mug of lukewarm water and wash your face regularly with it.
Another way of using tea tree oil for acne, is by putting it on some cotton and then dabbing it in the affected area. Acne are a result of bacteria growing on the skin. The tea tree oil, fights the bacteria and restores the lost radiance, restoring flawlessness on your skin.

As a Bug Buster

Is your place infested with bugs? Melaleuca oil is a brilliant bug repellent. Make a spray out of 15 drops of tea tree oil and 250ml of water. Pour this mixture in a spray can and spray along the affected area. This spray will help you get rid of black mold, fungus, and insects too.

As a Dandruff Cure

Dandruff is a universal problem. And the universal solution to this problem is tea tree oil. To get rid of dandruff, you can use tea tree shampoo. You can also add 2 drops of this oil to your shampoo and wash your hair with it, regularly, to get rid of the dandruff.
The other way of using this oil to combat dandruff is, by diluting it with coconut oil and massaging your scalp with this mixture. Tea tree oil for hair, also helps you get rid of lice in hair, which makes it a popular product among parents of young children.

For Mouth Related Problems

Tea tree oil is a natural cure for bad breath. If used as a mouthwash on a regular basis, it helps in getting rid of gingivitis, plaque, and inflamed gums. You can do so, by adding, 3 drops of tea tree oil to a cup of warm water and rinsing your mouth with it about 2 or 3 times in a day.

For Sore Throat

Tea tree oil health benefits are many, and the most important of them all is, its ability to cure sore throat and congestion. It washes away the mucus, clogged up chest, and nose. To make it work for you, add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of boiling water.
Remove it from the stove and lean over it. Now cover your head and inhale the hot steam for 5 minutes. All your cold and congestion will be relieved within minutes.
Melaleuca oil helps treat minor cuts, bruises, and burns too. Never directly touch a pure extract of this oil, as it can burn your skin. Always dilute it with some other base oil or water. Before using this oil for any medical problems, do consult a doctor. Do not, in any which way, consume this oil, as it is meant only for external application.
