Stomach ache is the pain felt anywhere between the chest and groin area. It is a very common complaint amongst people of all age groups, including small children who experience it from time to time. It is mostly associated with various forms of digestive disorders.
Besides, there are several other vital organs present in the abdominal cavity. A problem occurring in any of these can also result in pain. Some of the most commonly observed causes of stomach ache include indigestion, constipation, intestinal gas, stomach ulcers, inflammation of gallbladder, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, appendicitis, and so on.

Some Remedies for Relieving Stomach Pain Quickly

Stomach pain is often categorized into acute and chronic. An acute pain is intense, starts all of a sudden, and subsides after a few hours, while a chronic pain continues for several weeks or months. An acute pain, whose intensity varies between mild to moderate, can be cured with the help of home treatments. A few helpful ones have been mentioned below.

Tip #1

Stomach ache is often caused due to the gas trapped inside the digestive tract. Here, the pain is accompanied by a feeling of bloating. You can get relief from this sort of a pain if the trapped gas is released.
For this, lie down on your stomach on a flat surface. Lying in this position for some time helps in putting some pressure on the stomach, and the gas inside the abdominal cavity gets released easily.

Tip #2

Pour a drop of peppermint oil on a sugar cube, put it in your mouth, and suck it. Let the sugar cube melt in your mouth completely. If you suffer from pain in the stomach after eating, then it can be relieved with the help of this remedy. This is because peppermint oil helps in improving digestion, which in turn helps in warding off the pain.

Take half cup water, add 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, and half teaspoon of rock salt powder into it. Stir well and then drink this mixture in small sips. It can be taken 3 times in a day to cure the problem.

Roasted cumin seeds can treat the pain induced by acidity. Add one teaspoon of roasted cumin seeds to cup of water, and boil it for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid and drink it. This will dilute the acids in the stomach and provide instant relief.

Tip #5

Lemon and ginger are a great combination for relieving stomach ache. Mix 2 teaspoons of lemon juice with one teaspoon of ginger. Then, put one-fourth teaspoon of sugar into it and have. Consume it two times a day for best results.

Tip #6

Fenugreek seeds can lower the intensity of pain experienced in the stomach region. Grind these seeds thoroughly to prepare a fine paste. Add one teaspoon of this finely ground paste to a bowl of yogurt and mix it properly. Have this yogurt to reduce the pain.

If the pain is due to a stomach upset, then drink a cup of freshly prepared chamomile tea. It has a calming effect on the irritated stomach, which provides relief from the pain. Take a cup of hot water and steep a chamomile tea bag or 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile for about 5 minutes. Now, drink this tea for a quick relief from the discomfort.

Pomegranates have an amazing effect on the stomach. Take a bowl of pomegranate seeds, and add some table salt and black pepper powder to it and eat. While eating pomegranate seeds, ensure to chew the seeds properly.

When the pain causes the abdominal muscles to cramp, then the external application of ginger juice can provide a lot of relief. Take a small piece of fresh ginger root and crush it. Now, extract the juice from it, and massage on the lower part of the abdomen. This eases off the tension from the muscles and cures the annoying abdominal pain.

Tip #10

In case the abdominal pain is due to menstrual cramps, then heat application is highly beneficial. You can apply heat by placing a heating pad on the stomach area. Alternately, a warm bath can also bring about the same effect.
The remedies discussed in this article should not be used when suffering from an undiagnosed chronic stomach ache. Even a dull pain, that lasts for several weeks, should be treated by a doctor first. Moreover, do not try to treat a severe stomach pain triggered by a traumatic injury in the abdomen. Stomach pain accompanied by bloody stools, vomiting, and swelling of the abdomen also requires strict medical intervention.
