Lip sores are very common during seasonal changes. Lips swell and protrude out giving rise to a bumpy appearance. More often they become intensely red associated with pain and itchiness. One can start the treatment once they know the causes behind the cold sores. A home remedy is always preferred for lip swelling because they are absolutely natural and one can get rid of the pain without depending on drugs or antibiotics. Here are some remedies to cure this condition.

Cold and Warm Compress

A cold compress is also said to work on cold sores. First, clean the face and lips with warm water. Crush a few ice cubes and wrap them in a cloth and then apply the compress on the lips. The redness occurred due to the accumulation of blood will be gradually dispersed with the compress.
Now, cover the lips gently with a lukewarm cloth to get comfort. One should follow this thrice a day to get faster effects.

Herbal Cure

One can extract the juice of aloe vera and soak cotton wool in it. Apply it on the affected area and leave it for sometime. One can also use chilled aloe vera juice for the same purpose. The pulp of aloe vera is quite effective in curing this condition.

Intake of Vitamins

This condition is caused more often due to the deficiency of vitamins. Swollen lips can be cured by taking vitamin B12 supplement. One can get the supplements in the form of pills, capsules, or syrup. Lysine B-complex vitamins are also effective for the same purpose.
Check the dosage with the chemist and take accordingly to get relief from pain and discomfort. Topical application of vitamin E is also believed to be an effective cure.

Boost Your Immune System

One can always boost his/her immune system naturally. Increase the intake of the foods such as broccoli, leafy greens, strawberries, etc., to get sufficient vitamin C, so that the body naturally fights the condition.
However, it is better to stay away the sources of the same like citrus fruits that are acidic, such as oranges and lemons, that could worsen the problem. In this way, one would be less susceptible to such diseases.

Moisturize Your Lips

Chapping and cracking of lips during weather changes often gives rise to swellings and bumps on the lips. Therefore, one should keep the lips moisturized to prevent the occurrence of this condition. Try using cocoa butter, coconut oil, and almond oil for this purpose. Clean the lips and then apply the natural ingredients. One can also apply petroleum jelly to moisturize the lips.

If soreness and redness on lips still persist, then consult the concerned doctor. Drugs are prescribed when the infection spreads from fungus, bacteria, or virus. Often lip swelling and sores are caused by gum or tooth infection. In such conditions, one should take help from the doctors and consume the drugs prescribed by him.
