Get rid of all the dead skin and rough edges on your feet with these homemade scrubs. Learn about some of the best foot scrub recipes, which you can easily prepare at home and still get those coveted spa-finished smooth feet.

Imagine someone dancing in front of you with perfect swan-like poise when you notice her fissured heels, that have permanently taken on a shade of gray and one can now only dare to guess what the original complexion of it was. Not really nice, is it not?
Anybody with feet like that can not only forget about wearing flip-flops and summer sandals ever again, but will also have to think twice before reaching out for those sexy strappy high stilettos which reveal the heels.
In order to avoid such a predicament, why not keep your feet clean, grime-free, and well exfoliated. Scrubbing also is a part of the regular foot care regime, given that the hard skin accumulation process is rather quick in the feet.
Pedicures and spa treatments help, but they are all awfully expensive and one sometimes has to go without food for the whole of the next week after indulging in one. So, here are some homemade foot scrub recipes which can be made with the simplest of larder ingredients for you to have feet as smooth and soft as a baby's butt.
Before beginning with the recipes, I must tell you that you must use a scrub only after you have soaked your feet in some lukewarm water for a minimum of 15 minutes. This is because it softens the hardened dead cells that form a thick layer at the heels.
You can also make rather soothing foot soaks at home by either adding 2 cupfuls of black coffee or a single cup of honey in a gallon of water. After soaking them into this foot soak, scrub your feet with these recipes.

Sugar Foot Scrub

  • White sugar, ¼ cup
  • Sweet almond oil, ¼ cup
  • Cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon (ground)
  • Orange essential oil, 6 drops
  • Ginger essential oil, 1 drop
Blend the almond oil and sugar together and then add the essential oils to it. See to it that the grainy texture of the sugar is retained. Stir in the cayenne pepper and then use it luxuriously to treat your feet to a great scrub. This is beneficial by way of restoring the natural oil balance of the skin and getting rid of unwanted blemishes.

Sea Salt Foot Scrub

Salt scrubs are known to detoxify the skin, thus unblocking the pores and boosting blood circulation.

  • Epsom or sea salt, 1 cup
  • Cornmeal, ¼ cup (uncooked)
  • Baby oil, ¼ cup
Mix all three ingredients in a bowl and stir gradually. Once you get the desired pasty consistency, use the scrub to exfoliate your callused feet.

Peppermint Foot Scrub

  • Granulated sugar, 1 cup
  • Olive Oil, ¼ cup
  • Peppermint essential oil, 3 drops
Again, blend together the sugar and oil until you have a nice pasty, but grainy, consistency. Then, add the peppermint oil and you scrub is ready.

Dry Beach Sand Foot Scrub

  • Dry beach sand, 2 tbsp
  • Canola oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Rosemary or suntan oil, 5 drops
All you then need to do is scrub your hardened heels with the mixture of all these ingredients mildly, wash it off with lukewarm water, and pat dry.

Aloe Vera-Oatmeal Foot Scrub

  • Oatmeal, ¼ cup (uncooked and finely ground)
  • Sea salt, ¼ cup
  • Cornmeal, ¼ cup (uncooked)
  • Foot lotion, ¼ cup
  • Aloe vera gel, 2 tbsp.
Just mix everything together to make a nice paste. Gently massage it on your feet as you scrub, and then rinse with lukewarm water.
For the foot lotion, you can blend a banana and lemon juice along with some honey in a mixer. This will give you an amazingly nourishing ointment that will love your feet. So people, buck up and use these very nurturing scrub recipes as the summers are almost here and you cannot keep your feet hidden in winter boots anymore.
