Dry nose remedies will help moisten the skin inside your nose and help you get rid of the itchiness. Read on to get acquainted with some of them.
Your nose is not just an apparatus that helps you breathe. It is a very important part of your defense system that helps in protecting your body from pathogens. It has thin skin on its inner side that produces mucus to keep it moisturized all the time which helps trap bacteria, viruses, dust particles and other irritants to prevent them from entering lungs.
However, in some cases, due to some pre-existing factors, one may suffer from a dry nose. In this condition, your nose feels so dry that it cracks and may bleed in some cases. This is why people with this problem look out for effective dry nose remedies.

Causes

There are different causes that lead to drying up of the nasal passages. They may include overuse of nasal sprays that help in clearing nasal congestion. People who suffer from Sjögren's syndrome may have their nasal membrane dried out as well as the mucous membrane of eyes and oral tissues dried up as well.
Women suffering from menopause may have decreased levels of collagen produced. This causes the drying of mucous membranes in the nasal passages, mouth, and eyes. Upper respiratory infections can also cause the nose to dry up and lack of humidity in the air may also lead to a dry nose. Rhinitis and high blood pressure are some of the other causes.

Remedies

Saline Drops

You can visit your local drug store and buy saline drops. These saline drops can be used by children and adults without any problem. Just tilt your head back and then drip three to four drops of saline water into your nostril. This will help keep your nasal passages moist and will provide relief.

Humidifier

You can use a humidifier in your bedroom and switch it on before you sleep. The humidifier will help maintain moisture in the air. You will find this to be an effective remedy.

Moisturizer

You can apply a moisturizing cream on your nose and a little within your nostrils for soothing the dry skin. This will help cure the cracks and reduce the burning sensation. You can even try applying calamine lotion.

Petroleum Jelly

You can apply a little amount of petroleum jelly on your nose and keep your nose moisturized. This is a very effective way to heal cracked skin and find relief. Do not use petroleum jelly in excess, as it may slip into the lungs and lead to different medical problems. Use of petroleum jelly should be kept to a minimum.

Hydration

Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Water helps in keeping the skin moist and supple. You can include lots of fruits, like watermelons and oranges in your diet. They have high water content and reduce dry skin effects.
You should avoid dehydrating drinks and medications, like coffee, antihistamines, and alcohol, as they can worsen your problem.

Sesame Oil

You can apply sesame oil to your dry nasal passages for a few days. Very soon you will find that sesame oil provides you with the much-needed relief.

Neti Pot

You can try neti pot. Add warm water and 1 teaspoon of sea salt in the neti pot. Then, you need to lean your head over a sink and gently pour the salt water solution in your stuffy dry nose. Make sure you breath through your mouth. You will find the water flowing out through your nostril along with mucus. You can repeat the process about two times a day.
You can try any of these treatments and get rid of the dryness in your nose. You should use a cotton swab and dip it into water. Then, dab it inside your nostrils and clean your nose. This is one of the useful remedies that helps in the removal of bacteria inside the nose.
