Colon Cleanse Home Remedy Recipes

Aparna Jadhav
There are many colon cleanse kits available on the market today. However, it is always advisable to start with natural methods for cleansing the colon. This story discusses a few recipes for the same.
The colon is one of the important organs situated at the end of the digestive tract. It performs the function of extracting salt and water from the solid wastes that are about to be eliminated from the body.
Although the major absorption of materials from the foods during digestion is done by the small intestine, the colon only absorbs the remaining water, potassium, fat-soluble vitamins, and salt. The digestive bacteria are also present in this organ, which makes the absorption easy and efficient.
However, some impurities such as toxins and harmful chemicals are also absorbed and retained in the colon while carrying out this function. This may lead to a few digestion problems. Therefore, the toxins need to be eliminated from the body through a process called colon cleansing, wherein many alternative medicinal methods are used.
When the colon is cleansed by unnatural methods, there could be disturbances in its bacterial environment, which may further harm the digestive tract. Therefore, it is very important to use herbal or home remedies for the purpose of detoxification of the colon.

Homemade Recipes

Our diet is the only way in which the herbal medicines can reach the colon and release it off the toxins which are accumulated in it. This is because, the herbal medicines minimize the risk of damaging the bacterial environment. Also, they do not have any side effects on the digestive system. Following are a few recipes for colon detoxification that may be easily prepared at home:

Aloe Vera Juice

The aloe vera juice has detoxification properties, and thus acts as a laxative. To prepare this recipe, get about 400 g of mature aloe vera leaves, and cut the ends as well as the edges to get a smooth surface. Split the leaf in two halves and remove the gel from the peels into a container or a bowl.
Then, put the gel into the blender and add the juice of some citrus fruit to it. Blend it till you get a fine juice and refrigerate for about two hours.

Senna

Senna is a flowering plant, which acts as a laxative. It helps relieve constipation and increases the peristaltic movements of the colon. Because of this, the bowel movements are regulated and corrected. To prepare this recipe, you need 7 oz. of senna, 7 oz. of white sultana raisins, and 9 oz. of rose hip extract.
Boil the first two ingredients in water separately and then steam them. Filter the liquids, and then mix them in a common bottle. Add the rose extract and boiled water to this bottle.

Ginger

Ginger is a very commonly used edible root which can be consumed in any form such as mashed, juice, or cut pieces. This ingredient reduces bloating and stimulates the colon to improve the bowel movements. To prepare this recipe, crush the ginger, and separate the juice and husk.
Mix melted jaggery to the husk. Cook this mixture and then prepare cubes to be eaten. The ginger juice could be consumed by mixing honey and water, or it could be added to herbal tea or lime water infusion.

Cayenne Pepper

The cayenne pepper is very popularly known for its detoxification properties. This ingredient also breaks up the mucus accumulated in the colon, that doesn't allow it to function properly. Cayenne pepper can be used in any foods and drinks, or simply mixed with warm water and honey to give you instant relief.
These aforementioned ingredients are very helpful for the colon detoxification diet, which is also advised by many doctors. However, make sure you consume these foods only after you have consulted your doctor.
