Turmeric

If you are a fan of curry, you're probably already familiar with the herb turmeric. But, did you know that it is not only delicious but has numerous medicinal properties as well?
Turmeric has a long history of being used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat ailments. Its active ingredient, curcumin, which gives turmeric its healing properties. This powerful herb fights inflammation in the body, acts as an antioxidant, and has antibacterial benefits. Taking it, whether it's in supplement or powder form, has many benefits for the body.

1. Preventing heart disease

Turmeric has been shown to have a positive effect on the heart. Because it is anti-inflammatory, it prevents several processes that can lead to heart disease and reducing the lipid levels.

2. Helps to prevent cancer

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has been shown to be effective in inhibiting cancer. Turmeric has been used in combination with cancer fighting treatments to reduce tumors and free radicals. Aloe vera is full of antioxidants that prevent infection. In a previous study, aloe vera was used as an antibiotic to treat leg ulcers. The gel was effective and it inhibited the bacteria for 28 out of 30 cases.

2. Prevents tooth decay

Aloe vera has been used to prevent the buildup of plaque on teeth. A dental study had participants use aloe vera juice as a mouthwash to study its effectiveness in reducing film on the teeth. They concluded that it was just as effective as chlorhexidine, a common ingredient found in mouthwash.

3. Helps heal burns

Aloe vera is great for the skin. Used as a topical medication, it has been effective in treatments for first and second degree burns. A study tested how well aloe could heal burns and discovered that participants were able to heal sooner with aloe vera in comparison to traditional medicine.

Although flax seeds are currently popular for being a superfood, they have been used for centuries because of their beneficial properties. They are rich in nutrients and fortunately, they are great in smoothies or yogurt. If you are looking to improve your diet, consider adding flax seeds into your daily meals. 1. Flax seeds are full of nutrients

Just one serving size of flax seeds is jam packed with nutrients that your body needs. A tablespoon gives you a good amount of protein, fiber, and omega 3 fatty acids. This is good, especially if you are a vegetarian, because this could be an alternate source of omega-3 fats that you body needs.

2. Flax seeds help lower the risk of cancer

One of the compounds in flax seeds, lignins, help prevent cancer. Studies have shown that people who eat more of them have lower risk of breast cancer.

3. Flax seems improve cholesterol

In one study, participants were given 3 tablespoons of flaxseed powder for three months and their cholesterol was lowered by almost 20%. This is due to flax seed's ability to stick to bile salts. As a result cholesterol is removed from your blood to replace these salts and put into your liver. This lowers your cholesterol.
